About Me

I am a wife and mom of two wonderful kids. My husband trains international staff for a local ministry. My daughter is a freshman in high school, and my son just moved to CSU to star his freshman year of college. I enjoy playing games with my family, reading on our deck or by our fireplace, traveling and having long conversations with friends.

Classroom Experiences

Before coming to Calvary Preschool, I spent two years working in Elementary Reading Intervention and Special Education. I also spent five years teaching middle school in both Colorado Springs and Nairobi, Kenya.

As my children entered school, I missed teaching! I loved Calvary during my daughter's preschool years and was thrilled to have the opportunity to teach there! I love preschoolers' sense of wonder and their enthusiasm for the smallest joys of life! I also love the play-based, child-centered focus at Calvary and the sense of family among the staff.

During my eight years at Calvary Preschool, I have worked in many different roles from assistant teacher to administrator. This year I'm excited to work part time as an administrator with Kimberly, who I share deep passions about learning and life with, and also to work as an assistant teacher with Kathleen Laurence, whom I admire in so many ways as a mom, friend and teacher! Each of these roles has had joys and challenges, but I love my current position, as I get to collaborate with all of the teachers and work with every age group. Highlights of my role include researching effective supports for specific kids' needs, observing and playing with kids, providing resources for play-based learning and process art, and assisting Kimberly with training and planning.

I love working with preschoolers because I love to see the curiosity they bring to any situation and their sense of wonder and joy over the smallest of things. They remind me to slow down, notice things around me, to be curious and find joy in life. They're little sponges--soaking up so much as they explore and ask questions, which is so fun to watch and be a part of!

A Few of My Favorite Things

My favorite movie is "While You Were Sleeping." Watching it at Christmas is a tradition at our house.
Favorite foods/restaurants: QDoba, Chick Fil A, Carraba's, Crave or really anywhere I don't have to cook or do dishes.
Favorite Bible verse and why I like it: "And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." Ephesians 3:18-19
The fact that God loves each of us beyond comprehension and He wants us to experience His love fills me with awe and wonder and comfort, and challenges me to love my neighbor as well as each person is deeply loved by God.
