I grew up in Iowa and moved to Colorado in 1997. My husband and I have been married 23 years and have thee kids ages 20, 19 and 13. I love staying physically active. I enjoy reading and being involved in Bible Study groups.
I started teaching preschool because our youngest child was just finishing Pre-K at Calvary and I was looking at returning to work part time. Calvary was looking for teachers, so I applied, having loved the faith based experience our kids had at Calvary. It worked well with my family's schedule and needs, too.
One of my favorite things about teaching at Calvary is the ability to incorporate faith into our classroom. In our classroom, we have made an intentional effort to bring prayer into the classroom. We model prayer and are teaching the kids to pray. My heart's desire is for kids to leave Calvary Preschool knowing how to turn to God in times of need.
My favorite part about being a teacher is the way it allows me to grow as a person. I have grown in my faith, I have grown in my compassion for others and I have grown in my patience. I see things in a much different way, having taught kids for the past nine years!
One of my favorite things is when a child realizes they can do something on their own that they didn't think they could, like zipping up their coat or opening their snack. The joy that shines in their eyes and their smiles are like nothing else! So many times we do things for our kids because it's quicker & easier, but then we rob them of that joy and sense of accomplishment they get from doing it themselves.
One time when we were taking a class bathroom break, we discovered one of the boys sitting in the urinal. Life skills are important! Ha!!
